As part of their Leisure Programme, Bitton and Hanham Abbots Parish Councils jointly organise a series of walks
around the local countryside, using public rights of way. They are led by Mike Thomas, who has been a local councilor
for many years and has an active interest in the area. The programme lists when the walks are, where to meet and an
indication as to the sort of terrain which is covered.
Farmers are legally obliged to allow the public to use the definitive
footpaths, but this does not give you a right to use them as you would
your own garden or even a park.
The footpaths are strictly for walking along, or resting if necessary
and picnicking is not allowed.
You should also remember that a farmer can shoot your dog if it is
harassing his livestock, so keep your dog on a lead.
